ORIGINAL GERMAN WW-II AIR-FORCE ENIGMA CIPHER MACHINE:
(Price upon request)

This is a complete and original WW-II German Air Force (Luftwaffe) Enigma in good working condition. The serial number 1898 indicates that it was made before the start of the war. The three basic rotors, I, II, and III are included. Two more rotors IV and V are available as an option.

Although it is over 60 years old, this Enigma machine is in in good working condition. To allow the buyer to use the Enigma immediately, a battery holder that accepts standard flashlight batteries is included. are a copy of the original manual a book "Inside Enigma", and a CD-ROM called "The Story of the Enigma: History, Technology, and Deciphering".

This machine was used by the German Air Force during WW-II but it escaped any major damage and has been stored in an attic since the end of the war. All of the internal parts have been recently refurbished to original specifications using as many original parts as possible.

It is unusual to find an Enigma that was made before the start of the war, actually used during WW-II, and recovered in such good condition. It is also very unusual to find an Enigma that was used by the Luftwaffe since Enigmas were mostly used by the Army and Navy. These factors combine to make this an Enigma that is of considerable importance to historians and collectors.

OPTIONAL SET OF ROTORS IV AND V IN CARRYING BOX:

These are the two additional rotors numbered IV and V that were often used with Enigmas to bring the total number of available rotors to 5. These sets were first issued in 1938.

These are samples of the two rotors (IV and V) that can be supplied with this Enigma and a sample of the exact reproduction rotor carrying box. Since the rotors were issued after the Enigma was delivered, the serial numbers do not match that on the Enigma itself.

SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT OUR ENIGMAS:

Original German Enigmas like this one are extremely rare and hard to find because about 99% of the Enigmas were destroyed during the war or when Churchill ordered the Allied forces to destroy all Enigmas at the end of the war.

As the pivotal role that Enigmas played in world history becomes better known, Enigmas have become even harder to find. The very few that have appeared in open auctions have always been in as-is condition with parts missing and unknown restorability.

EnigmaMuseum.com aka the w1tp.com/enigma museum uniquely offers Enigmas in complete and working condition with batteries installed. (Because the Germans used brass-on-brass contacts rather than gold, silver or platinum, absolutely perfect operation on every keypress in these 60 year old machines cannot be expected.)
